workaround "less than 50 chars" rule

I have a text box on my Form in InfoPath 2003. The Form is connected to a
database. While updating the form I get an error message "Only text strings
less than or equal to 50 characters allowed".

What is the workaround this limitation as I want to capture more than 50
words in my text box? Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi,

Increase the that field length in db 50 to 256.
Then it will work for you.

Thanks - it did work but i forgot to clarify that i was looking to submit an
unlimited lenght of texts though in practice i expect it to be around 5000
characters.

Hi,

You can use the ritch text box instead of text box.

Using ritch box you can submit large amount of data.

OK, but how do i change my Text Box to a Rich Text Box.
Trying to simply drop the Rich Text control from the window on the right
comes up with an error "A rich text box must be bound to a non repeating
field with a rich text dat type...".

i have got field defiend as a "Text" Data type with size 255.

Hi,

First change the that field data type to string data type to Rich text(Xhtml).
Then you need to right click on the text box and select change To option
then select Rich text box.
Then text box will be changed to rich text box.

I am using Access 2003 as the Database and the "Design View" does not give me
the option to change the data type to "String". Available options are "Text"
and "Memo" among other numeral and date options.

in this forum i also read that InfoPath does not allow more than 255
characters to be submitted if i am operating via DataConnection option.

i am not planning on Web Service or Shared Lipbrary option- yet at least. So
does that mean i should give up trying to get 255+ chars or is your
suggestion a workaround this?

Hello

The Text box has a limitation for the characters to 50, You should increse
it in the schema.
