Workbook text converter

I recently switched to Office 2008 from 2004. Now, every time I open a merge document in Word, it says the excel file needs to be opened by the Excel 97-2004 workbook text converter. Is there any way to stop this from coming up?

Unfortunately there is not an option available to disable this alert when using an Excel workbbok as a Word mail merge datasource. The idea of the alert is a security feature, making sure you know that a non-Word, external file is being opened and being used by Word.

I have logged a feature request for the standard 'Do not display this alert again' check box option be included with this alert.
