Workgroup templates trouble

Hello.

We ve got the following problem - we have workgroup
template folders on servers in different locations (which
are interconnected by slow lines), all the templates are
protected.
In case if somebody receives a document which was created
from one of these templates in remote office, it takes a
lot of time to open this document, 'cause Word is looking
for template in office of origin.

Is it possible to configure Word not to open template file
in this case?
