Hello all,
I am having an issue with some legacy templates that have been created in
Word. They are on a server and the clients point to them over a UNC path.
This has been fine until recently when I decomissioned the server. The
decommissioned server is called 'Proliant'. I moved the templates to a new
server called 'Gateway' and then configured the clients Word to point to
\\gateway\templates in Tools>options>'File Loations'>'Workgroup Templates'.
However, all the legacy created Word documents have the path
\\proiant\templates embedded into them. This means it takes about 5 minutes
to open a document because it is looking for a server that is not there. I
can resolve this by going to tools>'templates and add-ins' and removing the
path \\proliant\templates from the document template section. The document
will now open without any problems.
This would be fine if I only had a handful of affected Word docs, but I have
over a thousand! Is there anyway to get around this? Surely it is a
configuration error on from my company as this would have affected loads of
people. I think that the templates date back to 1999!
Thanks
Andy
