Working in Tables Cause word to crash

N

Nicola

I have had this problem in two seperate documents. When working in a table
and doing a lot of cutting and pasting, reformatting etc all tables suddenly
screw up and lose their formatting. Word then crashes (get the 'Not
responding' error message). If I try to reload either the original file or
the autosave copy they open at the first page of the document and then word
crashes.

Has anyone experienced the same problem or has an explanation?
Thanks

A sort-of explanation, anyway: Word documents are very fragile things,
internally. There are certain things that can "break" them relatively easily.
"fiddling" with table structures is one of them. If you're cutting and pasting
cells, and not just text, then my best guess would be that the internal
structures that keep track of tables got thoroughly mixed up.
