working with older access file

i have an older access file that i need to import data into but i cant
since it is an older version. how can i import an XLS file into it if i
cant modify the old access file. i cannot simply convert it to a new
one to work with because i have a program that gets it info from the
older file.

AFAIK you'll need a compatible version of Access. What version is
this, and what version do you have?

The one possibility would be:

- Create a new Access database in your current version of Access
- Use File... Get External Data... Link to link to a table in the old
database
- Again use File... Get External Data... Link to link to Excel
- Run an Append query to append from the (linked) spreadsheet to the
linked table
