Working with WMF in clip organizer

I have a bunch of drawings in DXF that I load in Autocad LT. From
there, I can highlight what I want and copy it to the clipboard. I can
see the data in the clipbrd viewer.
Then I use the clip organizer to paste the data into a named
collection. At this point, I can see a preview and I can use the clips
in Word.
The problem is that there is way too much white space around the data.
I can crop it in Word, but when I copy from Word, the data becomes a
PNG.
How can I crop the wmf data in clip organizer?
Is there better support for working with clips?

What options do you have when you "paste special?" If you can paste as a .wmf,
select the image, using the draw menu, ungroup, delete the white box. If you
paste the image to PowerPoint or Publisher, after you ungroup and delete the
white box, regroup, right-click the image, save as a picture.
The Clip Organizer has no editing tools.

Thanks, but I downloaded a proggy called "metafile companion" that does
the job perfectly, I'm just a bit miffed that such an obvious
functionality is so obscure in the MS world and not available in
Office.
/old man rant
20 years ago on the Commodore 64 with GEOS, an OS that ran on a 1MHz 8
bit micro with 64k of RAM and a 170k floppy drive, I was able to copy
picture "scraps" and paste them into "photo albums" that I could see
where they are and copy them all over the place as I saw fit.
Now on a 2.4GHz monster, I need a room full of PhDs to figure out where
the files are and how to share a bunch of clips in the office...
