Running Win XP Pro platform w/ works 2002 installed, are there any issues related to install of office 2003 pro on same platform?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Doug,

If you are using just Works then there shouldn't be a problem. If you
have Works Suite and it came installed with Word then you can either
preserve the previous version of Word if you use the Custom Install
option or replace the previous version.

Additionally if you are using Word from Works Suite then it is
recommended that you uninstall the "Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for
Word" for it is known to cause several problems such as clearing the
Windows Clipboard upon starting Word, crash upon exiting Word,
over/under population of various menu items, etc.

Thank you Beth

Yes, I have works suite, will consider removing word however, seems to me that this will disable works ability for documents of this type

Is it a better possibility to load the apps. from office excluding word? This would allow works to still run complete and provide the functionallity of the other office apps

Thanks

Hi Doug,

Uninstalling the Works Suite Add-in is not the same as uninstalling
Word.

If you aren't using the Works Suite Add-In functionality:
- Works Task Launcher
- Works Mail Merge functionality, (e.g. if you are using Works Address
book)
- Word to Works converter

The uninstall the add-in. If you are using the Works functionality in
Word then leave the add-in installed. However if you encounter any of
the problem I previously described then uninstalling the add-in should
resolve the problem.

You can keep both versions, however if you need to make a selection
then I would install Word 2003. The new features and enhancements are
worthwhile. :)
