Works 2003 Spreadsheet No Default Printer Selected

Martin O'Leary

Hi,
I am experiencing a very strange problem with Works
2000 and 2003. I setup a new HP Deskjet 5650 via usb
interface. All Works applications except Spreadsheet
print with no problems. When I try to print from with in
the Spreadsheet program I get the following error.

No default printer selected, Use windows control panel to
specify printer.

The new deskjet is set as default printer. If I try to do
a print preview I get the following.

Printer Driver is missing or not valid. Run windows setup
program to install printer software again.

Now this originally started off with Works Suite 5.0
(2000) I found the same error message relating to works
4.0 and the following printers (HP Laserjet 5L or 6L). MS
even provided a patch works4.exe to fix the problem. I
figured ok upgrade to works 2003 and it should fix the
problem. Nope didn't work. I can not find any new fix or
update for this problem. If anyone could please help it
would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Martin,

You may want to check with the folks in the
MS Works newsgroups on this one
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.works.win

You may need a newer version of the printer driver
for the HP printer as well.
