Works and Office on the same machine

Hi All

I got a computer from Dell, and it had works installed on
it. I installed Office 2000 on top of it, not having a
clue they didn't work well together. Does anyone know
how this can be fixed? THere are some strange things
happening.

Thanks

uninstall Works, then repair O2K, but perhaps before that:-
What exactly are 'strange things'

Strange things -
After I have had Word open, then I cannot click on a message in Outlook to open it. This is relatively minor

The big problem is: After Word is open, and I reply to, or forward an email, the emails never get to the addressee. They simply get lost in cyberspace.

Someone told me that uninstalling Works isn't enough. They thought something was amiss in the registry

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank

Joan

I'm assuming yr refering to Outlook not Outlook Express. and OL is setup in
internet mode.
Are you using Word as yr Msg.edit App? if so try deselecting 'use Word'
and send in 'plain text'
(Tools/Options/Mail Format)
'Email gets lost' are you saying they dont appear in yr Sent folder or they
aren't received? check the following;
In OL, Tools/Preferences/EMail Options tick 'save copies in sent folder'
Then in Advanced EMail Options tick 'save forwarded msgs'

Depending which version of Works its probable that you now have two
different versions of Word installed.
As you have Office2K I would have thought it unlikely that you need Works.
Therefore uninstall it, reboot, then do a repair installation of Office2K
See if above helps
