Word will open without a converter all versions of Works word processor from
version 3.0 to 7.0 according to the open dialog box. What issue are you
having that you can't start Word, select the office button and then in the
file type select .wps? Specify any error messages.

When I selected the document (wps) from my email, windows did not open Word
and open document. I saved the document and then opened the document with
Word. Thank you for your help. Usually I do not have to save the document
to open it.

You have apparently stumbled on the same issue that affects many when they
try to open any file directly from an email. It is always better to save
the document or file to the computer's hard drive and open it from there,
rather than from within the email program. Many times file associations
don't work when going the email route. Glad you got it open.
