Works Suite 2002 won't install word?

Anyone have any idea why I can't get word 2002, which is on my work
suite 2002 disks, to install. I bought works suite 2002 2 years ago
installed it and used word. It worked fine. This past Dec
reformatted HD, and have just got around to reinstalling word. I trie
to install just word and it said it was unavailable. then I tried t
install the whole works suite and when I went to programs to look t
see if word was there it was not. I bought this program it isn't
pirate copy. Anyone have any idea why I can't install the word portio
of the suite. All the other programs installed just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know when Office XP came out -- there was press about the fact that you
could no longer install the app on numerous machines. Somehow it recorded
information about the system and wouldn't let you install on other systems.

I also remember saying that if, for example, you replaced your hard drive --
or bought a new machine -- you could contact Microsoft and they could help
you with the "locked" installation proceess.

I'm sure someone will come along with more info that I have.

This would be an activation problem, though, not installation, and if it was
a retail copy (as appears to be the case), it should install okay on another
machine.

Thanks for your replies. Turns out my wife installed XP Office bu
didn't install word for some reason. So I couldn't install my olde
copy of word. All fine now.
