Worksheet will not print in Excel X for Macintosh

I have a pre made worksheet that I can not get to print on my
Macintosh. The only way I can get it to print is by cutting and
pasting into a new document.

When I do try to print, all I get is a blank sheet of paper. If I go
into print preview, the same thing. However, if I take this to work
and open it on my windows XP workstation, it shows up fine. But, I
don't want to take it to work to print the stuff everytime.

Is this a glitch, or a setting that needs changed?

Since it only happens in this document it would seem like a document
specific problem with a setting, but I am not sure.

My guess is that the worksheet has a defined name of Print_Area which refers
to a blank area of the worksheet. Got to insert-Name_define and either
delete the name Print_area, or edit the refers to area to include the
portion that you want to print.

Bob:

Thanks for the reply, I tried it but still nothing. This is really
weird.

Is it safe to assume you've done all the obvious:

Check for an updated print driver -- Repair Disk Permissions
Confirm each setting in Page Setup
Confirm each setting Print options

Is there anything in Print Preview or Page Break Preview (if X has it, not
sure) that might give you a clue?

Yes you are safe in your assumptions, all of that has been taken care
of. I see nothing out of the ordinary on preview. However, I did
just realize, that if I try to set the print area, it does not set. In
other words, no dotted line surrounding the area.

Does this shed any more light?

You don't get the dotted line if you've set Fit To x page(s) wide by y
tall in Page Setup.

If you try to set the Print Area, does the proper range appear in the
Print area field of the Print section in the Sheet pane of the Page
Setup dialog?

I'm a bit confused - In your first post you described the printed page as
being blank followed by "If I go into print preview, the same thing."

In your last post you say "I see nothing out of the ordinary on preview."

The 2 seem to be contradictory - Has something changed?

Did the file originate on the PC or the Mac? If PC, which version of XL?

Have you tried just going to File> Print Area> Clear Print Area? (Just to
approach from a different direction.) What if you use Edit> Move or Copy
Sheet & send to a new workbook... Does the print gremlin follow?

I honestly don't know what to suggest as far as a fix - I've not run across
this problem before.

My bad, I went in and it is showing up with the dotted line, just very
difficult to see due to a thick border.

Sorry, I was not clear. You had wrote "Is there anything in Print
Preview or Page Break Preview (if X has it, not

than a blank page, I saw nothing out of the ordinary.

This is a workout file that I downloaded from this link...
http://www.bodyforlife.com/exercise/downloads/bfltraining.xls My
assumption is that it was created on a PC, especially since it will
work in excel on a PC.

I have tried clearing and to no avail. If I copy THE WORKSHEET to a
new workbook, it does follow. However, if I copy the contents (not
the worksheet itself) in just a highlight Copy>Paste then open a new
document and Paste, I have no problems. What I ended up doing today
was doing this and starting a new worksheet.

If you get a chance, take a look at the document and see if you see
anything weird. I appreciate the responses to this. I am about to
give up on it, especially since starting a new document. But now, it
has become one of those problems that is driving me more nuts now than
anything and I just want to solve it!

I am just going to use the one I am making. This is too freaky. But
to answer the question, I did both...used the Edit> Move & also
selected copy/paste the entire sheet. Neither worked. Only if I
copied & pasted all of the cells to a new document did it work. Since
I have downloaded about 4 versions, I will just work on the one I am
re-working from copy/paste.

Thanks though for all your help!
