Workspace Membership Limitation

Don

Is there a limit to the number of workspaces (file-sharing and standard) to
which I can belong? I have heard that Groove 2007 has some lockup issues if
you belong to more than 50 file-sharing workspaces. Is there a similar
problem with the Standard workspaces? Thanks.

Is there a total maximum (fs+std)? I've read that the Data Bridge kicks out
an error when an identity approaches the maximum. But I cannot find out what
this maximum number is. Anyone?????????

Hi Don,

Information on the File Sharing workspaces problem is here:
http://blogs.technet.com/weeklygroo...kspaces-should-be-limited-to-50-or-fewer.aspx.
(The Data Bridge issue is with GFS workspaces and is the same problem.) 50 is
the smallest number that we have seen this with, but the exact number varies
by system. This is a problem with tracking system events and does not occur
with Standard workspaces.

While there is no known limit to the number of Standard workspace you can
have, in practice, you would eventually run into resource limitations .
Consider that each workspace is maintaining awareness information on other
members, and that data for each needs to be processed at send and receive.
Depending on the activity of the workspaces, your computer would at some
point be bogged down by all that disk, processor, and network activity.

Frances,

Thank you for your response. It's nice to see you, and sometimes your
other
colleagues at MSFT take care of our user questions here in the newsgroups.
I
have not seen many MVPs in here, but perhaps they don't list it after
their
name. Thanks again.

Just a point of information on this, I am a member of 83 standard workspaces
and am not experiencing any issues, at least at this point. (I hope I'm not
jinxing myself!)
