Workspace Templates

I've followed the steps listed elsewhere on these boards to add a new
template for Project Web Access workspaces. Everything seems to have worked,
and the new template appears in the appropriate drop down list in Site
Provisioning Settings.

However, changing and saving the template seems to have absolutely no
effect.

Anything I may have missed?

You mean changing and saving after it is visible on the Site
Provisioning Settings page?
Everytime you modify the template, you need to re-add it to WSS just
like you did it the first time. Consequent changes are not automatically
updated.

Also note that sites created with an old template will not get the new
template and will not see changes you made to the template afterwards.

Thanks Guidho, but I'm not able to see the changes in the workspaces right
after I choose and save the template.

Shouldn't I be able to go find a project, open up the project workspace, and
then see the new template in effect?

No. The Project Workspace template is applied at site creation time.
Once the site is created, the template will never change.

So if you modify the site template, install it and select it in the site
provisioning settings, the new template will only be used (and see it in
effect) for newly created project workspaces. All old project workspaces
will not show the changes because they were created using the old template.

Does anyone know if this issue will have a work-around in 2007 version? I'm
hoping so -- it's quite inconveinant to have to have WSS sites based off of
two different templates -- besides the template not converting -- people
should also know that the AD sync doesn't go back to old sites either -- so
if you add new people to your environment -- you will have to manually sync
each workspace that was created before the new member(s) add. I'm currently
working on a script that wll automate this -- has anyone done that yet?
