Wpd > doc

I just bought my first Mac and am transferring data from my Windows pc to
the Mac. So far so good. One problem is I have MS Office 2004 with MS Word
but don't have Word Perfect which I used on the Windows based pc. Now I
need to convert the wpd files to doc files. Problem is, there is no Word
Perfect conversion option in MS Word 2004. What can I do?

Thanks!
Duane

Hi Duane,

Wouldn't the best solution be to use WordPerfect on the Win computer to Save
As .doc or .rtf and transfer those files? I think WordPerfect offers both
options.

On the Mac, both NeoOffice and AbiWord will open WordPerfect files (both
free, not necessarily perfect conversion), though you may also be interested

Hi Duane:

No. It's close to "impossible" :)

However, if you are REALLY stuck, Word's "Recover text from any file" filter
(File>Open and change "Enable" to "Recover text from any file") will get the
thing on your screen.

With some vigorous Search/replacing you can convert the thing quite quickly
into a plain text file, and from there, reformat it in Word.

Of course, you lose all of the formatting: but you do get the text out.

Cheers
