Wrap text in a cell

Once a cell is configured for "wrap text" text wraps to a
point and then it stops wrapping and flows off the cell.
In my situation it seems like ten lines is the maxium
regardless of the column width. Has anyone experienced
this problem and if so has any resolve been found?

Dave Peterson has posted the following advice (and it works!)

On its own, xl will show about 1000 characters in a cell. But if you
add a few alt-enters to force a new line within the cell, you can see
lots more.
