Wrapping a custom Text Field in a report

K

Keith Roberts

I am using MS Proejct 2003 SP3 on Windows XP Professional. I am using a
custom field Text 9 for a Project status field. How do I view the entire
field in a report? I have tried using the row height, but it leaves too much
white space. I am looking to do what MS Excel does and that is automatically
adjust the row height to the number of lines displayed in the report. In
addition, is there any way to get around the 255 character limit of these
text fields? I am not looking for unlimited, but perhaps up to 1,000
characters.

Thanks!

[Julie] Sadly, Project does not function like Excel in that manner.
The only method project will use to wrap text is to increase row
height or increase the width of the column.
The following Knowledge Base article goes into a bit more detail but
doesn't really offer much more hope.

[Julie] Sorry, no. The text fields are limited to 255 characters.
The notes field can have more text and you can display notes in a
report. The option appears on the Details tab.

Thanks! That is what I was afraid of, that MS Project could not do this. Oh
well.
