Write conflict corrupts the system

P

Our schools database is often shared across 2 computers. Even when only one computer is being used our users often get a write conflict notice. If they choose anything other than "save to clipboard" the system goes haywire. The relationships between the table where the data they are editing is stored are removed. The record they are editing is replaced with ######## and the primary key is removed from the table. What is going on?

We use Access 2002
