write gujarati with roman phonetics

Meena

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel URGENT!!I am interested in writing Gujarati text in my document which will be mainly in English. I need an input system which allows spelling the Gujarati words using the roman phonetic system. For example, my name is Meena. I would like to be able to use some combination of the standard keys, for example: m e e (or i i) n a a to produce the Gujarati script font. The current international input support is correct for someone used to the native script keyboard design but it feels very cumbersome and non-intuitive for an English QWERTY user.

Use the Gujarati Qwerty keyboard layout provided with OS X. You are not going to find anything else.

I forgot to mention, no version of Word for Mac can correctly display Gujarati or any other Indic script, so you really need to use a different app if you want to write in that language.

Many thanks to thg.

now the question becomes, is there a Mac App for writing Gujarati phonetically?
AND
What are the risks (viruses etc) of using Virtual PC on the Mac?
Thanks to all

Could you explain why the Gujarati Qwerty keyboard does not work for you? All Apple apps (except the old Appleworks) can display correct Gujarati. I think you can use OpenOffice too. You can email me about the input issue (tom at bluesky dot org).
