write protected cds

i've written a cookbook and am in the process of having
it copyrighted.

several of my accounts have requested a copy of my
cookbook on a cd.

my concern is that if i sell the cd to a client, they
have the option of making copies of my book (cd) and...in
turn, giving those copies away.

can i write protect the cd i sell to my clients, i.e.,
book? i don't mind if a buyer prints the book and has it
bound, but i don't want a client to have the access to
make changes to the book or copy the book onto another cd.

any help or suggestions would be most appreciative.

There are a number of solutions, enabling a serial number to be generated
for an individual cd, however if someone realy wishes to 'hack' it they
will - its possible to purchase hacked cd's of most apps, WinXP and OfficeXP
etc are readilly available.

It is not necessary to "hack" a Microsoft CD. One can use a valid Product Key
with any program CD or copy thereof that the Key was created for. Nothing on
an MS CD ties it to any particular Product Key. I have a slipstreamed XP
Pro/SP1 which I created and burned and it works just fine with several
different Keys. There is a routine on the CDs which checks the entered PK to
make sure it fits the algorithm used to create valid Keys at MS.

Cheers,
