Hello Dear,
I have a project in the shared drive. I am using MS
project standard. A project is accessed by 4 groups, each
group have their own entry ( i.e deliverable date). How
can I limit the group to edit or accidentally delete the
the inforamtion that has been eneterd by the others?
Any solution or advice is greately appreciated and can
help me to deal with this crisis.
Regards,
Majid

There is no default method of protecting sections of a project from changes
by anyone who can open the plan. Therefore, the best way to deal with this
crisis is to make this a training and performance issue. Train your groups
to only change the sections of the project for which they are responsible
and then expect this level of performance from them. If you do not have the
authority to enforce this environment, then enlist the help of a manager who
has authority over all of the four groups. Hope this helps.

Thank you Dale.
Will project server / web access take care of this issue?

No, using Project Server will not solve this issue. The best approach to
solve it with Project Server would be to break up the project plan into four
separate projects. You could then use Project Server security so that each
project can only be updated by its managing group. To view the entire
project and set cross-project dependencies, you could create a master
project consisting of the four projects as subprojects. Hope this helps.
