writing a macro to sort & subtotal dynamic lines in a Word table

I've developed a template to invoice gas sales for the month from our
Marketing database. We invoice monthly for deliveries in the previous month
on a combination of pipelines that results in a dynamic set of rows being
imported into a table that comprises the body of the sales invoice.

Does anyone have a macro that would sort the table rows & apply subtotals to
a grouping? Is that the best approach to solving the problem?

I have some experience with Excel macros but no experience with Word macros.
