Writing agains email server on Citrix

Hello!

For some days ago, I posted a question about CDO and a calender request. I
got good answers from Ralph, but he also informed med that CDO will not be
shipped from Microsoft anylonger. This made me a bit worried, and thinking I
should look for other possibilities. With CDO, there was a simple way of
setting the email server, so I could communicate with it either on a Citrix
server, or locally.

I does not care what I am using, but I need to be able to create and send
emails with attachments. And that the email server could reside on Citrix, or
locally. Using the calender in Outlook at the same place would be a bonus.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hopefully with links to some code examples. I would be grateful for this.

Best regards
Dagl

You can use Outlook automation see

and someone can correct me (just a thought without sufficient knowledge on
the subject), but even if Microsoft stops including CDO by default, could you
not simply copy the file yourself to keep it functional for your needs?!

Check out Tony's website section for a good list of the various e-mailing
techniques available to you. See

Thank you for your answer.
I have looked at the links you referenced, and tried a couple of the
possibilities. But, I cannot find anywhere to set the email server. The first
link you referenced worked on a pc where Outlook were installed locally, but
on my job-pc that has no Outlook locally it failed. As I said, I must be able
to set the SMTP server on a Citrix terminal. Some customers has Citrix,
others dont.
On CDO, there is settings for the propertied, among them the SMTP server,
for instance:

cdoMail.Configuration.Fields("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver") = "mail.someserver.no"

When writing to a local Outlook, it seems to use the SMTP server registered
in Outlook. But, I cannot reach the email server on citrix before I can set
the SMTP server. That is my dilemma.

The solution might be to use CDO.dll and keep it for own use, if I dont find
any other way of doing it.

I am thankful for help with this matter.

Best regards
Dagl
