Writing "Chapter" before numbers in heading

Hi.

I think I'm missing something very basic or I'm maybe typing my search with
uncommon words.

When you use automatic numbering to have your chapter number appear in the
Table of Contents, is there a way to write "Chapter" or "Section" just before
the number on the same line?

All I can do now is:
"6. Chapter"

What I'd like to do is to be able to write "Chapter 6" as Heading 1 with the
6 being the automatically inserted number so it is automatically referenced
in the ToC.

Am I missing something obvious?

I've searched on here, but can't find anything closely related to what I'm
trying to do.

Is it possible?

If the headings being included in the TOC are numbered with "Chapter x"
numbering, then that should be picked up by the TOC. If the headings have no
numbering, you can add "Chapter x" numbering to the corresponding TOC style.
If the headings are numbered but without the word "Chapter," then I suspect
there may be no way to do this (I would expect that you would end up with
"Chapter 6. 6. Chapter Title"), but it might be worth the experiment.
