Writing Dates

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I recently upgraded to Office 2008 and now when I writes dates into a spread sheet the program changes them. In the past I wrote some dates like this: 4/19/08 and some with just the month and year: 4/08. Now if I try and write 4/19/08 the program changes the date to Apr-08. I don't have any idea how to change this. Any help would be appreciated.

When you enter the date as 4/08 it sets the date format of the cell to
display as Apr-08, and that formatting is retained even if you renter a
complete date (such as 4/19/08) into the same cell.

Select the cell, then use Format> Cells - Date, pick the format you prefer.
