writing formulas that require more than seven if functions

I am attempting to write a formula in a cell that will
look to another cell in the same row and depending on the
information in the look to cell perform one of 12 posible
calculations. i.e. If the look to cell contains either
Jan-Dec one of twelve possible calculations will apply.
After the 7th if function is added to the formula it will
not take any more functions in the formula. How can a
formula of this type be written?
