wrong date on gantt chart compared to project dates

Hi all
please can you help me?
Project pro 2002
project server 2002
PWA
I've created a project with a start date in sometime in April 2004,
and tasks which run through to about December 2004.
The bar chart on the right is showing dates of 2005!
No matter what I do it does not change, and even when I recreated the
project in a new file it did exactly the same.
All the start/finish dates are in 2004, I make no mention of 2005
anywhere, yet the taks seem to be placed in 2005 on the calendar and
the gantt chart.
Whatever did I do wrong?!
