wrong equation symbols displayed

I

ian_t

when i use equation editor 3.0 in Word, i cannot insert most of the symbols,
like an = or delta. If i click on the brackets, the wrong symbol is
displayed. I have tried installing MathType and when i move my mouse to click
on for instance, the delta, a cross appears and i cannot click on it. - can
you suggest anything i can do so i can insert equations.

(Also if i open i file with equations in, they are not correctly displayed,
with many of the characters replaced with non-math symbols). I have tried
uninstalling Word and re0installing, but this has not made a difference.

Ian, it sounds like you've got a corrupted Symbol font. This one
isn't easy to find as a download, but if you'll e-mail me
privately, I'll send you a copy.
