Hello,
I found a strange problem on one computer at a client's office. The problem
appeared after connecting an HP 2100 LaserJet and installing a PS compatible
driver for it. This was part of an effort to make PDF files print correctly,
without dropping horizontal lines in some reports.
The printer could not be made to work correctly so it was removed.
The machine is now physically connected to a barcode printer, which is
accessed through a Generic Text printer.port.
The default printer is an HP 4000 LaserJet.
When I preview a report, Access substitutes some weird looking font for
Times New Roman and for Arial. The substituted fonts are much wider than
Times New Roman so there is a lot of truncation. When I opened the report in
design view, in order to check whch font was used, the Times New Roman and
Arial fonts was shown as expected. If I try to assign another font, the
dropdown list shows three fonts that probably belong to the Generic Text
printer.
When I print the report to the 4000 and other LaserJet printers on the
network the report looks OK, but the preview still has the wrong fonts. This
is very annoying for the client, they usually preview the report before it
is printed to make sure the correct criteria have been entered.
All forms look fine.
Has anyone seen anything like this?
Any help would be appreciated.
