Wrong odd page number in Word v.X SR1 on Mac OS X 10.3.9

Weird, weird, weird.

Insert an odd page number as the first page number (eg., document
starting at page 1, 3, 99 ,etc) does show the next even page number
instead (eg., page 2, 4, 100, respectively) in the footer of the first
page of the document.

Insert an even page number (2, 4, 100, etc) works OK.

This issue is peculiar of a single document that has sections. No
problem with other documents or with a blank new ones.

This is driving me nuts!

What is going on? How to fix it?

Thanks.

Check in Normal view (or turn on nonprinting characters) to see whether some
of your sections are Odd Page or Even Page Section Breaks instead of just
Next Page Section Break.

Or, if these are Continuous Section Breaks, sometimes Word gets confused
about those. Try deleting them, setting your numbering, and reentering
them.

Make sure your Word X is completely updated--check using the instructions
here, the About... number is not reliable.

Daiya,

Absolutely right!

They were Continuous Section Breaks. Deleting the very first one after
the title fixed it (yet made a formatting mess of the rest of the
document).

Oh well.

Thanks for the tip.
