wrong start date shown

I have a task that is showing a start date of saturday, when the work
actually doesn't start until sunday - the resources were overallocated for
the saturday so I had to shift the work to sunday. In the resource usage
view the task is showing 0 hours for the saturday instead of being blank
which is presumably why the start date is showing for the saturday. The
duration field is correctly showing 4 hours even the start date is saturday
and the end date is sunday.

I presume it is calculating the start date based on the end of the
predecessor task and ignoring the resource constraint. How can I have the
scheduler automatically show the date tasks like this actually start?

Hi,

The task has a Must Start On constraint or an Actual Start oin Saturday.
Start is NOT defined by predecessors.

When you said you "had to shift the work to sunday" exactly how did you go
about it - what did you enter in what field in which view? Did you manually
enter a date or work hours somewhere or did you use Project's built-in
resource leveling tools? What is the task type setting for the task in
question?
