WSS Modifying Lists...

When I want to modify columns in lists on WSS such as change the word 'Title'
to something else in the default first column....I get an 'error' page with a
'troubleshoot' link which doesn't show me anything of interest.

If I add a column, then try to edit it..and change the description, I get
the same thing. So, I can add a column, I just can't edit it once it's been
created.

I'm defined as an Administrator in PWA and have Manage Windows SharePoint
Services permissions.

Any ideas?
