WSS synch problem for Project Managers

Hello:

I am using Project Server 2007 and the project workspace provisioning
settings is set to do automatic permission synch with workspaces. In
general, the synch appears to be working fine except for the
following:

I added a user from the Project Manager group to a project's team via
Pro > Tools > Build Team from Enterprise. I was expecting that when I
published the project, the user would get the "Project Managers
(Microsoft Office Project Server)" permission to the workspace since
this project now becomes a "My Projects" for the user and we have
"Save Project" category permission enabled for Project Managers for
"My Projects" category. However, the user is getting only the "Readers
(Microsoft Office Project Server)" permission. Am I missing
something?

I also tried logging in as the user and publish the project. Still,
the workspace permission did not change.

then I changed the Status Manager field for a few tasks to this user
and published the project, still no change.

Please provide any thoughts you may have.

Thank you!

Gary,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I thought that a user from Project Managers group should automatically
get "Project Managers (Microsoft Office Project Server)" permission to
the workspace by either having him publish the project or by making
him the owner or by making him status manager or by adding him to the
team based on the following -

(A) "PWA > Server Settings > Project Workspace Provisioning Settings"
page states the following:
"Project managers who have published a project or who have Save
Project permissions on a project are added to the Project Managers
(Microsoft Office Project Server) site group."

(B) We have given Save Project permission to Project Managers and
another custom "Controllers" group for the My Projects category.

(C) My Projects category is set to Projects where:
- The User is the Project Owner or the User is the Status Manager on
assignments within that Project
- The User is on that project's Project Team
- A resource on the project's Project Team is a descendant of the User
via RBS

What am I missing? If this is not how it works, then what is the
process to give someone "Project Managers (Microsoft Office Project
Server)" permission automatically? Are you saying that this permission
is obtained automatically only for all those users who publish the
project?

Thanks!
