WSS unable to connect message...

This message occurs hourly in the server application event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 10/11/2005
Time: 12:44:49 PM
User: N/A
Computer: BZZZZ720
Description:
#50070: Unable to connect to the database WSSContentDB_XXXX on
xxxsql1\xxxinstance1. Check the database connection information and make
sure that the database server is running.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

The problem is...the WSS content database referred to has been
deleted...this was a test environment DB. The 'Real' Databases for the other
instances of project server seem to be working just fine. I have found no
references or discussions that seem to apply.

Has anyone seen this before???

Thanks...

Mark:

What procedure did you use to remove the SharePoint installation that
referenced the dev database? If you didn't actually uninstall WSS, then
there may be a leftover reference to the config database in the server
registry.

Thanks, Gary...that's what I'm beginning to suspect AND if it's true, I'm
very weary about trying to remove it.
