Attention Alvin Bruney or anybody that is equally knowledgeable on the topic
of Office Web Components (OWC). I had spent hours searching the internet and
I even bought Alvin's book after surrendering to the common consensus that I
should use OWC. Thanks Alvin great book. However, my thoughts on this are as
follows: I am using Microsoft Access 2007. Even though OWC is not supported
in 2007, they are obviously still using some form of it it in the views.
Meaning you can open any form or query up in a PivotTable or PivotChart view.
With that said, it is my belief that I should not have to use an OWC control
or even a form for that matter. I should be able to write SQL to a query def
and open it up in PivotChart view (which this is easily done now), but then I
should be able to programmatically manipulate all of the objects within this
view just like the code I have painstakingly gathered to manipulate the OWC
object. I believe that the forms and queries, when opened in PivotChart view,
are using some version of OWC (Maybe 12.0) so why am I not able to find code
to manipulate these. Why should I be forced to create forms and place OWC
objects on them when this is already done internally? I should be able to
create a single querydef on the fly and produce multiple PivotChart Views
that I can manipulate programmatically depending upon user input. Any
thoughts on this?
