WYSIWYG IS NOT WORKING IN WORD ON MAC OSX

R

I have had this problem in word for a while and nobody seems to know
how to fix it. When I type a document in Word and then hit tab to
organize information on each line, everything looks great. But then
when I look at the Page Layout or Print Preview, suddenly some lines
are not in sync with where I tabbed them to. When I go back to Normal
View, it looks fine again. If I try to print, the Page Layout version
is what prints. What I then have to do is redo all the tabs that are
out of whack and then print it. This makes the tabs look out of sync
in the Normal view, though. What gives?

Most of the people who hang out in this newsgroup are using Word
for Windows. You might try asking your question in the

Hi redlemur,

Tabs are a relic from typewriters. Avoid them if you can. Use real tables.
Use styles with indents. Use anything but tabs. Please.

Tabs will be inserted for you in TOCs and indexes, so that's one place you
might encounter them.
In tables, you might place a decimal tab, but you then don't need to use the
tab key.
But you hardly ever need to use the tab key yourself to insert a tab
character.

If you insist on using tabs, then never, ever use the default tabs.
Work in Page Layout View so you see what you're doing, and set the tabs as
you need them.
You should never, ever need to hit the tab key twice or more times in a row,
except if you have some empty "column(s)" in your pseudo-table.

If you need to have the same tabs across the doc, you might set them in the
styles you use (and make sure the styles don't contain tabs that don't make
sense to you).
But if you're doing pseudo-tables, as I suspect, you will likely need to set
them manually, probably using the ruler:

It sounds as if you are using monospaced fonts in normal view and
proportional fonts for your actual document. Do not use multiple tabs for
spacing (although this is better than using the space bar). Use tables or
actually set your tab settings where you want your columns.
