x-axis labelling - how to put it above the axis?

[Got new job, but with old Excel!]

I’ve got a bar chart which is mostly negative values, i.e. underneath the
x-axis. However, the x-axis labels are also underneath the axis, so therefore
sitting over the bars. I want to be able to put them above the axis (which is
what I’d do if I were drawing it myself) but I can’t work out how to do it.
One would have thought it would have been a fairly simple option, but I’ve
searched everywhere and can’t find it!

I'm using Excel 97 by the way.

Double click the x axis to bring up the format dialog.

Yes, but 'Set axis labels to Low' is not an option.

I do not have access to xl97 at the moment. Will check later and post back.

Under Tick Mark Labels, select Low.

The settings are the same in Excel 97.

Found it this morning. I actually want 'high', not 'low'.
