X to 2004: custom toolbars?

When I installed Office 2004, the spreadsheets created under Office X opened
fine but the customized toolbars reverted to their default state. I still
have Office X on my hard drive for now. Is there a way to recover the Excel
toolbars, or am I better off re-creating them in the new version?

Depends...

some of the control ID's changed - I'm not sure whether it affects saved
custom toolbars, but it sure affects creating them in code - so it may
be simpler to just recreate them.

OTOH, it's easy to transfer. In XLv.X, attach the toolbars to a blank
workbook (Tools/Customize..., Click "Attach" and attach the desired
toolbars). Save the workbook, then open it in XL04. Close XL - the
toolbar will be saved in the

~:Library:preferences:Microsoft:Excel Toolbars (11)

file.
