xCollection::insert used to work, but now broken

I have a button that calls xCollection::insert on a repeating table.
It used to work, but after I changed the data source it no longer
does. I've verified in the XSF file that the xmlToEdit value has
not changed. Is this a known bug? A common newbie problem?
Any suggestions on troubleshooting it?
