XLL still supported?

MSDN lacks information for XLL excel addins severly.
The later MSDN has less info than previous MSDN libraries.

Can we say XLL addin's is (becomming) an obsolete technique?
I know my Excel version still accepts XLL addin's but if we as company want
to deliver such dll's my question is if this technique would remain for a
long period of time.

Thanks,

XLL Add-Ins still work in Excel 2003, and I suspect that they will in
future versions as well, but it is not the method that MS is
recommending now.

Yes, and that is my main concern.
I believe Excel is written around xll anyway internally, so removal seems
unlikely.
But they could exclude the addin part.
In msdn i seen xll topic being revisitted and updated to 2004.
They do not speak about removing the xll part.
