XLM macros

HI,
given the imminent demise of VBA, and given the need for cross platofm
macros, I was wondering about going back to XLM macros. Can anyone
tell me how to run these macros is modern copies of XL(2004 for now).
I think I have worked out how to insert a macro sheet (cmd + F11), but
do not know how to make the macro run. Also, does anyone know where I
might download a guide for XLM

Many thanks,

Peter

You can make the macro run by assigning it to a key combination. Or, if it
is a function, simply type =macroname() into a cell to get it to run on
recalc. You can name your macro "Auto_Open" or auto_Close" to get it to run
when the workbook is opened or closed.
