XLSM "reference is not valid"

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have an XLSM file that I'm assuming was created on a PC. It contains macros (obviously) and references to other worksheets in the same file.

When I open the original file, all link associations work. I can click on a link with a reference to another worksheet and it flips over to it.

However, if I "save as" the original under a different file name (or even the same file name) when I open it again any time I click on one of the links I get the message "Reference is not valid."

Can anyone explain why something that was working before would be broken after I save it?

Are both Office and the OS fully updated? What happens if you save it as
an XLS file?
