(a mac is not laid out, filestructure-wise anywhere near a windows machine).

Hi,

Mac Office has the Project Gallery, which is a great feature that simply
has no Windows counterpart.

Although .xlt files can be put anywhere and will work, if you put them
into this directory they will be noticed by the Project Gallery:

If you're talking about default workbook and worksheet templates, put
them in the

Microsoft Office 2004:Office:Startup:Excel

folder (or your alternate startup folder, if you've set that in
Preferences/General). However they must be saved, as templates, named

Workbook

and

Sheet

respectively, *with NO extensions* (".xlt").

Note: this information is in Mac XL Help under the "default workbook
template" and "default worksheet template" topics.
