XML won't load with XSL applied

I am brand new to XML and XSL. I'm trying to insert an XML document into
Word using the Field --> InsertText method, and then applying an XSL
transformation, and herein lies the rub.

I can insert the XML document alone, but tacking on the XSL gives me an
error message. These were files downloaded for a book tutorial, so if there
was bad coding, somebody out there should have caught it by now.

Is there a setting in Word I need to tweak?
