XP ClipArt

When I click on "Insert Clipart," and type a word to search for I get an
error returned that says 0x800401F9. I'm using Windows XP professional
edition with Microsoft Office XP. Any help?

I have Office 2003 Pro installed as well as OneNote 2003. I had Office 2002 installed about a month ago, but uninstalled it to install 2003. I am unable to get Clip Organizer to function, it crashes on startup with the same type of error that everyone else seems to be getting (I searched in this group for Clip Organizer and almost every message was the same as mine). I downloaded the latest version of MDAC (2.8 RTM) and installed this. I made sure that I had nothing running that was using MDAC at the time and it installed just fine. I tried Clip Organizer again, and it crashes the same way.

I ran the MDAC.inf file that one of the knowgledge base articles you posted recommended, and that fixed Clip Organizer, but then none of the code I have that requires the newer version of MDAC functions. So I installed the latest version of MDAC again and it causes Clip Organizer to crash again.

I tried uninstalling just Clip Organizer and then reinstalling just that piece, but it doesn't work either.

What do I need to do to make this work?

OK, I reinstalled MDAC, removed Clip Organizer, re-installed Clip Organizer and then rebooted and it all worked.

Maybe, considering the number of posts with this problem, MS should look into why Clip Organizer is breaking in the first place. None of my other MDAC programs had a problem, whether I am using late or early binding on it.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Bill,
You can do a Detect and Repair on Clip Organizer, this usually fixes
most common problems. Your problem was probably related to a registry key
becoming broken.
