XP Crashing Constantly - 5-10 Times Per Day!

Every one of my office products, Word, Excel and
Powerpoint have been crashing on me 5-10 times per day and
significant data loss occurs each time!

The most common problem occurs when I try to save an
active file. I get a message that says, cannot access
drive, drive full, file in use by another application,
etc. Most the time any attempt to do something else
causes a fatal crash. Worse, the auto-recover files are
rarely there even though autorecovery was turned on and
told to update every 10 minutes.

One or two times I was able to quit the application and it
saved the file, but the FILE SAVE command would not work
prior to that.

This is odd because I have run all of the updates AND the
CDs used for the install were the SAME as the ones I used
to install on an older machine. The only difference is
that I am running different versions of my firm's other
software (any one of these could be causing a conflict)
but the only programs open when I run Office are usually
Internet Explorer, Lotus Notes and things like Norton
Antivirus.

Also, one thing that is different is that Office 2000 is
still installed on the machine, though I never run it.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?

PS - I had previously encountered a very similar problem
with Office thinking the disk was full an unable to save
any files when I was running Office V.X on the MAC. I
seem to have resolved that but cannot recall how! It's
been killing me trying to remember what I did to fix it
then - does this ring a bell for anyone?
