We have an issue with some of our Windows XP SP2 clients that when the lock
their desktop, and then return and log in, the screen looks all blotchy and
the icons by the clock move up in the left hand corner. If you click on the
start menu it just is a white rectangle with no icons on it. you can move
your mouse but nothing happens when you click on anything and you can't do a
ctrl+alt+del to get to task manager, you just have to cold boot and then it
goes away for a couple of days and it will pop up randomly after that.
The only thing in common for these workstations is that it happens when
outlook is open and the machine is locked. The only error in the event
viewer that they all have is a .net 2.0 error but I can't find any info about
that. I have run adaware spybot and they have updated symantec 10.1
antivirus so I think it is an actual system issue and not spyware or a virus.
If you have seen this or know of a fix it would be greatly appreciated.
