I was advised that these two programs would enable me to
operate:
1. Microsoft Word
2. Outlook
3. Excel

I recently ordered and am having built:
Compac Presario S5000V with an Intel Processor.

Does this make sense?

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition is your operating system. It will run any
version of Office from 97 to 2003.

Microsoft Office XP (2002) Standard Edition or Small Business Edition
includes the programs that you list. You can run them on Windows XP Home
Edition.

Does this answer your question or was there something else that I missed?
Are you talking about compatibility or usability? The answer to both is
that the combination works just fine.
