Yahoo web hosting: FrontPage compatibility

B

Bunchan

I have signed up for Yahoo web hosting service which claims that it supports
FrontPage 2002, but not 2003. I only have FrontPage 2003. What would be the
potential issues that I might encounter if I developed a site with 2003? Any
suggestions as to how I go about this?

There are no FP 2003 SE and FP 2003 is supported by the FP 2002 SE

There are no FP 03 server extensions.

You will encounter no problems with FP 02 server extensions as long as you
publish your pages with FrontPage and not FTP.

There is not fp extensions for 2003 and will never be according to
Microsofts information. However, the good news is the the extensions
for 2002 will work fine with 2003. I have read somewhere that a
couple of minor problems could exist. Something about rechecking
hyperlinks but I am using fp2002 extensions and fp2003 without a
hitch. I might mention my ISP has windows based server of which I am
on. It is a litte more expensive but my control panel even allows me
to install or remove the extensions on the server for my account. Not
sure if Yahoo is unix or windows but can bet you it is not windows and
you can have conflicts with the extension be the host does not fully
implement them. Of course you will find out after you publish unless
you can do a google and find what others say. Do not belive the hosts
claims.

Brett...

That all depends who made the statement that they didn't support FPSE
'2003'.
Yahoo hosting or was this an inference by the OP?

Everything except for form handler works fine on Yahoo if you are using a
business account.
When they state that they "don't support" FP2003, they just mean that they
can't help you if you are having probs with 2003. You'd think a large
company like that would be more helpful to customers. I guess bigger isn't
always better.
